The Role

Overview

Internship assisting water/wastewater design, analysis, and modeling using civil engineering tools.

Tasks

-Perform assignments requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities. -Pump station evaluation and design. -Sewer collection system evaluation and design. -Prepare design drawings, plans, sections, details, and profiles/sections within the Autodesk Civil 3D and/or AutoCAD MEP. -Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids -Assist in the development and application of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and analyses related to floodplain management studies and a variety of water resource projects -Documents time and effort accurately -Water / wastewater treatment evaluation and design. -Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives -Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member

What You Bring

-Knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic engineering concepts through coursework or work experience -Ability to work productively in a collaborative team environment, and demonstrate growth potential as well as a desire to learn -Proficient in Microsoft Office programs -Candidates must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering with an emphasis in water resources, water or wastewater treatment, conveyance/pipelines, or related field and must have completed at least two years of study. Candidates who have graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship. -Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position. -Stormwater modeling, analysis, and design. -Detail oriented while still able to understand/comply with the big picture/goals of a project -Ability to multi-task -Strong logic skills and writing skills -Water distribution system hydraulic modeling, analysis, and design. -A GPA of 3.0 of higher -Good communication skills
