Tasks
-Develops and/or participates in market research in conjunction with operations and services. -Networks with other professionals to maintain and build cordial, respectful relations with competing firms and teaming partners that encourage teaming relationships on appropriate projects. Enhances the firm image as the “partner of choice.” -Develops and maintains professional relationships with existing clients, prospective clients, colleagues, and government agencies, including serving as a client manager. -Plan and coordinate trade shows, conferences, and client events:Collaborate with operations staff, graphic designers, and other marketing staff to meet the marketing objectives for the event. This includes scheduling reservations, planning for presentations, leading development of displays and collateral material, ordering promotional items, maintaining mailing lists and facilitating mailings, and coordinating the Firm’s activities with conference staff/trade show promoters/hotel sales/etc. -As part of the firm’s client quality service program, assists with measuring client satisfaction and providing feedback to operations and services -Introduces the firm to new prospects. -Provides quality oversite to major portions of proposals and other submittals. -Supervises the proposal development group -Research markets, teaming partners, and competitors to assist with growth and differentiation strategies -Guide work and promote goals to maintain high standards of performance -Leads strategic pursuits by developing and leading capture plans -Leads and participates in the development of proposal and presentation strategies for any service offering of the firm. -Conveys information clearly and effectively through formal and informal documents; reviews and edits written work constructively -Coordinates and collaborates on all business development activities within assigned operations and services. -Maintain network of external relationships to include professional contacts, industry associations, college professors, etc. to source available candidates -Identify customer requirements and new opportunities that combine unique elements of Volkert’s competencies -Leads strategies and efforts to: -Coordinates with the marketing department for development of presentation materials. -Assist the team with winning new business -Creates a network of contacts through membership in appropriate national or international professional organizations and obtaining committee/board positions. Attends and represents the firm at appropriate professional, civic, client, and government events. Coordinates firm membership and individual participation in industry and professional associations, and participation in industry and professional conferences/tradeshows, within and across assigned operations and services. -Support teams on project pursuits, proposals, presentations, and interviews -Markets new services to existing clients. -Regularly informs operations and services of trends, new initiatives, and noteworthy events. -Works with governmental agencies to develop new programs and standards for the industry; and converts qualified leads into principal/senior staff introductions. -Identify and prioritize changing/emerging markets, major targets, and teaming opportunities -Leads monthly marketing reports in our corporate wide marketing and operations meetings.

What You Bring
-This position requires heavy travel and overnight stays 3-5 days per week -Ability to build internal teams across operations and services that further the interests of the firm’s goals above individual and operational unit goals. Ability to build external teams through demonstrated integrity, trust, respect and strategic thinking. -Computer Skills: Ability to use Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, Outlook. Proficient with basic office equipment, computer software; ability to create and utilize spreadsheets. -Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines. -A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR) -Strong level of organization and prioritization skills. -Valid driver’s license. -Ability to clearly present and support issue analyses, conclusions, and recommendations to C-Suite, senior management, and the firm at large -High degree of professional judgment; ability to generate trust and retain confidentiality. -Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, planning, economics, management, or other professional/technical discipline -An advanced degree in management or marketing is desirable. -Gathers relevant information systematically; considers a broad range of issues or factors; grasps complexities and perceives relationships among problems or issues; seeks input from others; uses accurate logic in analysis. -A minimum of 15 years of Industry Experience -Familiarity with VDOT, PennDOT, WV DOT, MDOT and/or municipalities is required -Professional registration or certification is highly desirable.
