Tasks

-Take on special projects as delegated including process improvements and senior management requests -New property set up, analysis, and follow up of outstanding issues as required -Responsible for timely and accurate completion of monthly activities including month ends, cash flows, and monthly reporting -Liaise with property site staff, leasing staff, other members of management and clients to ensure they are receiving responsive service as well as provide assistance and advice as necessary -Identify and analyze problems and take decisive action if an appropriate solution is achieved -Review of monthly and annual property accounting activities to ensure that desired results are achieved according to deadlines, GAAP, and client policies/requirements -Ensure that all client and staff requests are met through delegation and monitoring -Assist in the overall management of the accounting team including planning, monitoring, and communicating any issues that require management input -Develop technical, analytical, and communication skills of property accounting staff through targeted and focused review of monthly and annual files and constructive feedback -Responsible for timely and accurate completion of annual activities such as property budgets, cash flow forecasting, final operating cost recovery adjustments, annual property taxes, and property audits -Responsible for ensuring existing and new staff members receive appropriate level of training for systems and procedures including monthly and annual activities -Responsible for being a resource for staff to come to for guidance and direction -Plan timing and completion of annual and monthly activities including annual budgets, annual audits, annual operating cost recovery adjustments, annual property taxes, monthly cut-off schedules, and monthly reporting -Monitoring of annual and monthly cycles to ensure completion and quality of desired results in accordance with deadlines -Provide input on staffing requirements and issues -Input / feedback for improving procedures and initiating quality and efficiency enhancements -Responsible for performance management and ensuring that property accounting staff continue to develop and utilize skills that are necessary to complete job responsibilities -Assist in staff motivation and celebration as well as ensuring that a positive work atmosphere is maintained -Supervise the day-to-day activities of property accounting staff to ensure the efficient operation of all properties under management -Responsible for conflict resolution and decision making when required -Manage staff workloads to ensure fairness and that all BGOCLP/client needs are met in a timely manner -Responsible for continuous improvement of property accounting staff and policies and procedures

What You Bring

-Strong background in property accounting and real estate financial reporting -Proven ability to plan, monitor, and prioritize multiple deliverables across monthly and annual accounting cycles -Skilled in delegation, performance coaching, and creating a positive, accountable work culture -6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory capacity -Familiarity with cash flow monitoring, financial report generation, and variance analysis -Efficient and effective communication, in a professional manner, with all BGOCLP employees and clients -Comfortable engaging with executives and contributing to strategic discussions around staffing, processes, and results -Track record of continuous process improvement, including policy and procedure development -Strong organizational and analytical abilities, with excellent attention to detail -Full understanding of all property specific processes and upkeep of pertinent information relating to specific properties -Advanced proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Yardi) and Excel (pivot tables, financial modeling) -Ability to troubleshoot and guide staff on complex accounting issues and system processes -Strong decision-making and conflict resolution skills; able to act decisively under pressure -Client-focused mindset with a history of building productive relationships with cross-functional teams and external clients -Criminal background check is required for employment in this role. -CPA designation (CA, CGA, CMA) required and in good standing -Proven experience overseeing budgeting, forecasting, operating cost recoveries, audits, and property tax processes -Clear, concise, and effective verbal and written communication, tailored to internal and external stakeholders -Demonstrated success in staff development, performance management, and team leadership -Expertise in real estate-specific financial standards, and internal controls -Ability to adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with competing deadlines -Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field -High degree of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality
