Tasks
This position is for our industrial division which is responsible for the HVAC and Piping scopes of work for new construction projects as well as remodel work in buildings such as renewable energy facilities, chemical manufacturing plants, wastewater treatment facilities and other industrial building types. This role is located in our Westmont, IL office. -Foster and maintain relationships with clients and A/E contacts to facilitate ongoing and future projects. -Manage all aspects of Mechanical trade work, overseeing projects directly with owners and Construction Managers. -Maintain project logs and documentation files, ensuring accuracy and completeness. -Coordinate company personnel activities, ensuring efficient project execution. -Supervise the entire construction process to ensure adherence to design, budget, and schedule, fostering relationships with clients, A/E representatives, and subcontractors. -Interpret and work from P&ID drawings, translating them into layouts and ISOs for construction. -Apply expertise in mechanical systems (process piping, plumbing, HVAC) from project inception to closure, including conceptual design, estimating, pre-construction, and construction phases. -Monitor and control construction progress, analyzing variances and implementing corrective actions. -Make critical decisions impacting project profitability. -Manage financial aspects including buyouts, billings, payments, subcontractor agreements, expenses, and value engineering to protect company interests and client relationships. -Utilize customer relations, project accounting, technical prowess, and cost control to drive project success. -Management of compliance records for weld procedures, welder certifications, and code updates -Authorize and oversee all project transactions, including billings, subcontractor requisitions, and material purchases.

What You Bring
Are you an experienced Project Manager with a deep understanding of Industrial HVAC and Piping systems across various industrial building types? Helm is seeking a proactive individual who can engage customers, navigate projects from conceptualization to completion, and deliver exceptional results through innovative management techniques. -Demonstrate experience in both construction self-performance and direct craft labor oversight. -Knowledge of scheduling software (MS Project, Primavera). -10 years of progressive trade experience, including 2 years in a project management role with a focus on Mechanical Systems in an industrial setting. -Knowledge of ASME code and how it applies to piping fabrication -Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project, PowerPoint). -Accredited Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management, plus a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a project management role specific to Mechanical Trade Work in an industrial setting; OR -Familiarity with BIM/CAD processes and fabrication practices on job sites. -Must have at least 2 years of experience as a construction project manager focused on industrial projects, specifically managing the piping scope of work for a mechanical contractor. -Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills. -Apply basic design and code knowledge effectively. -Previous experience as a Prime Contractor, engaging directly with owners.
