Tasks
The Cost Control Specialist is responsible for supporting project teams by performing cost control activities for a portfolio of large projects.Responsibilities will include validating and reporting project costs, incorporating trends or approved changes, and providing financial forecasts for assigned projects. -Work with all relevant project and discipline personnel to prepare project cost expectations and tracking tools. -Monitoring, maintaining, and completing key reports and providing analytical functions towards capital projects utilizing data and other critical deliverables. -Collecting, evaluating, and reporting Capital budget, project cost, work order closings and variance reporting. -May be required to travel out of town on a periodic basis to obtain project field data or attend project meetings -Interaction with other team members, as well as supervisors and client personnel -Create and analyze capital budgets, financial forecasts, reporting of actual financial results and variance explanations. -Assists in the preparation of accruals. -Work with accounting on reconciling invoices. -Ensuring the integrity of accounting information and providing analytical services for transmission and substation projects. -Initiate, monitor, maintain and close out of capital work orders in all legal entities.

FLSA Exemption: Exempt (Eligible for Straight-Time Overtime) This position is not a remote position and requires candidates to reside within commuting distance to downtown New Orleans. Eligible for US Work Authorization Sponsorship: No Basic or Minimum Qualifications To be considered, candidates residing outside of commuting distance to the office are required to provide a cover letter regarding their intentions to relocate to the local area and that the candidate understands that there will be no relocation assistance provided. Candidate outside of commuting distance to the office who do not provide a cover letter will not be screened for the position. In addition, the candidate’s location must be easily identifiable either on submittal documents or in the candidate’s registration in our ATS. -Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time -Availability and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously -Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities which permits employee to communicate effectively -Availability and ability to work overtime as needed based on project -Availability and ability to travel to client sites on occasion -Must be able to lift and carry five (5) pounds -Understand all relevant project documents pertaining to the preparation of cost control plans and reports. -Requires a working knowledge of cost control software and the ability to learn new software platforms quickly -Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes to perform office duties and travel when necessary to off-site locations -Five (5) years with less than ten (10) years’ related experience as a project cost analyst or similar role required -Bachelor's degree preferred -Proficient in Microsoft Excel -Sufficient vision or other powers of observation which permits employee to conduct analysis and investigations -May be at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes -Ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels -Requires a High-School Diploma or Equivalent -Ability to work with minimal supervision -Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Office software (Word, Powerpoint, etc.) -Have attention to detail -Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection -Sufficient manual dexterity which permit the employee to perform routine office duties
