Key Responsibilities

Tasks

-Communicate and coordinate project activities with project manager, client, and others as needed. -Perform substation P&C and/or physical design, including the preparation of field notes, drawings, specifications, and estimates. -Perform engineering calculations such AC and DC load calculations required to properly size auxiliary systems. -Perform careful self-checking activities to ensure the quality of work before it is presented to senior design reviewers. -Prepare computer assisted design and construction drawings of a complex nature with neatness and a minimum of errors. -Attend job site meetings to gather scope of work. -Ensure all designs conform to our client’s and industry standards. -Perform engineering calculations such as conduit and bus sizing, lighting & lightning analysis, and grounding grid analysis. -May provide field support during construction. -Utilize client and/or company information system to track and update design activities.

What You Bring

-Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET approved college or university. -Experience with substation design and construction standards for electric utilities in California is highly desirable. -4-8 years of experience working in substation design or similar with utility or consulting engineering firm. -Strong written and verbal communication skills. -The ability to move freely for up to 8 hours per day. -The ability to sit/ stand for up to 8 hours per day. -Professional Engineer’s License in Electrical Engineering preferred but not required. -Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail. -Proficient using Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel, Word, and Outlook). -Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
