Senior Designer Electrical

Overview

Design and develop detailed electrical plant layouts and models for infrastructure projects.

Tasks

-Works with designers in other disciplines to coordinate overall design and technical requirements. -Extraction and preparation of material quantity take-offs from design drawings. -Works independently in the preparation of 3-D CAD design model under the supervision of experienced designers. Assists in constructing detailed models and participates in client model reviews. -Compiles, maintains and accesses job drawing files, records, and drawing controls. -Generates 2-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) plant layouts and drawings using Microstation / Auto CAD / Smart Sketch from detailed design 3-D CAD model with minimal guidance from others. Knowledge of Revit shall be added advantage. -Prepares bulk material quantity takeoffs and material requisitions for materials applicable to the discipline. -Prepares design calculations as applicable, to be used in the discipline. -Participates in and fosters a work environment that is based upon openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction. -Reviews calculations, design models, drawings and design documents prepared by others in the group and by material suppliers, as assigned. -Answers questions from client or construction group on design for assigned responsibility.

What You Bring

-Familiarity with relevant design standards and guides, Skill in reading, interpreting, and using related documents and drawings prepared by other project groups. -Proficient in S3D modelling – Equipment modelling, Raceway, Grounding and lighting. -General knowledge of technical responsibilities of other groups associated with the total design effort. -Basic Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, design criteria, and codes relevant to the discipline. -Sound knowledge of CAD design and drafting techniques using S3D, Revit, Microstation/AutoCAD, engineering drawing, graphic arts, reading of drawings and reproduction methods used by the discipline. -Min. 10 Years of experience, specialized courses in drafting, design and engineering practices, and CAD, or a recognized diploma. -Knowledge of the application of engineering and construction materials related to the discipline’s design responsibilities. -Experience in using Navisworks for model review and clash detection, proficiency in SPR. -Skill in leading the technical work -Able to work in a team and cross functional environment. -Knowledge and understanding of Raceway, lighting, grounding design and modelling, cable sizing.
