Tasks
-Technical knowledge: assist with developing pre-inspection and safe work plans, prepare daily safety worksheets, and set up/tear down inspection equipment. Conduct visual and physical examinations of structural components (steel, concrete, masonry, timber) using nondestructive testing techniques. Document site conditions with sketches, notes, photos, and digital tools. -Evaluation of concrete construction, subgrade soil strength, and uniformity in the field. -Communication: compile field data into formal reports, prepare AutoCAD drawings to document findings and identify areas needing repair, and perform calculations to assess structural conditions. Provide concise status updates to project managers and stakeholders. -Verification of compliance with plans, specifications, and codes. -Interpersonal savvy: effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients to align technical work with project objectives while fostering strong, productive working relationships.

What You Bring
-Proficiency in appropriate areas of concrete and earthwork construction inspection. -Software: strong computer skills, including word processing and use of spreadsheets. Familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite. -Travel: willingness to travel and adjust personal schedule to meet project needs. -Education: two-year technical certificate or three years of experience directly related to the job responsibilities described above including rebar inspection and reinforced concrete construction experience. -Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future -5 years of work-related experience. -Driver’s license: possession of a current, valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record. -A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, civil engineering technology, engineering technology, construction engineering, or construction engineering technology from a program accredited by ABET (aka Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology), including courses in concrete materials, design, or construction, PLUS six months satisfactory work experience; or -Travel expectation: willingness to travel and periodically adjust personal schedule to meet project needs (including up to 100% travel and 100% fieldwork expected; project needs will vary seasonally and over time). -The ability to safely lift and carry equipment weighing about 30 pounds up and down stairs, ladders, and elevated surfaces on a frequent basis. -ICC Special Inspector Certifications (Reinforced Concrete, Soils) -Work environment: ability to work in locations that may include rough terrain typical of construction/manufacturing/rural outdoor sites with limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities and construction sites. This position is classified as a non-exempt (hourly) under the Fair Labor Standards Act. -Profit distribution: Barr has a "no retained earnings" model and distributes all profit to our employees through our annual bonus distribution plan, ESOP, and dividends to shareholders -Retirement benefits: 401(k) retirement savings plan with company contribution and an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) with company contribution in Barr stock
