The Role

Overview

Assist engineers with OpenRoads Designer for roadway design and drafting tasks.

Tasks

-Prepare minor mathematical calculations and quantity calculations for roadway/bridge projects -Coordinates assignments with project team and supervisor -Research applicable design codes and guidelines to ensure design compliance -Research design options and documents findings -Provide assistance to engineers using OpenRoads Designer to create roadway plan sets and perform minor design work on roadway projects -Work with engineers to develop 3D models using both OpenRoads Designer -Perform quality control reviews of design plans and calculations -Contribute to project production sheets by adding dimensions and laying out plans, title and detail sheets on production sets of plans

What You Bring

-Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines -3-15 years of prior experience with roadway drafting -Under 3 years experience will be evaluated if applicant has a degree in Computer Aided Drafting or similar field -Valid driver’s license -Degree in Computer Aided Drafting or similar field is preferred -Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a team environment -Experience in OpenRoads Designer is preferred -Associate degree from a technical or four-year school -A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
