CAD Technician Highways

Description

• Prepare drawings and presentation materials;
• Coordinate with discipline team members.
• Prepare technical analysis and design; including cost estimating, quantity calculations, etc

Requirements

• The successful candidate will be a dynamic, self-motivated individual who will assist senior engineers in project work, focused on delivery to the client and technical excellence. The ability to design deliverables against Canada Engineering standards for each stage of a project is preferred and training and guidance will be provided where necessary
• Understanding of other road design requirements (e.g. drainage / hydraulic design, environmental design / mitigation measure, engineering surveys, geotechnical investigations and design);
• Abilities to work with various software packages (i.e. Civil 3D, OpenRoads, Inroads a plus, Microstation, CAD, Microsoft Office)
• Familiarity with Canadian regulatory environment and experience with approval processes is an asset;
• English spoken and written
• Understanding aspects of highway / freeway design (e.g. alignments, geometrics, staging, utilities, roadside safety, Contract specifications/ documents, Quantities, constructability);
• Understanding of Ministry of Transportation, Canadian standards and design practices are an asset;
• Ability to work under pressure and with minimum of supervision
• Strong communication and organization skills;
• Cultural awareness
• Employment with WSP India is subject to the successful completion of a background verification (“BGV”) check conducted by a third-party agency appointed by WSP India.
• Understanding of QA / QC as well as Environmental Health and Safety practices / requirements
• Bachelor’s or post graduate degree in Civil Engineering with 1-4 years postgraduate experience with a design consultancy
• French spoken and written a plus
