Tasks

-Applies specialized knowledge in own area of expertise and openly shares information and knowledge with others. -Participate in incident investigation, reporting on incidents, and generating and sharing the resulting continual improvement opportunities. -Maintains quality and safety standards to ensure NexGen's Elite Standards are met across all work streams. -Collaborate and coordinate with all engineering disciplines and other functional departments within NexGen. -Apply risk-informed prioritization of tasks and deployment of resources. -Provides complete and contextually clear information to support sound decisions to achieve company objectives. -Provide process safety expertise within review technical deliverables produced internally and externally to build and operate new facilities and to modify and operate existing facilities. -Contribute directly to the resolution of technical challenges. -Develop, generate and interpret metrics to continually improve process safety integration. -Information management for identified technical risks and critical controls. -Communicates in an open candid and consistent manner with impact to inform, enroll, coach, and inspire. -Provides clear and informative explanations to support effective decisions in line with company objectives. -Develop and implement Process Safety Management processes and procedures to meet NexGen standards and government regulations. -Promote, assess the efficacy of, and maintain compliance for Process Safety. -Plans, manages and follows through to ensure the flow and timely completion of activities to deliver successful work results. -Effectively builds rapport and appropriately delivers information (oral and written) in a timely, well-organized, thoughtful, and engaging manner. -Assess, forecast, and adjust process safety resources as needed to meet project and organizational objectives. -Stay curious to remain aware of, learn, and apply evolving industry best practices. -Assess the qualifications and competencies of proposed resources before assigning or awarding execution of process safety activities. -Alongside peers and the Director, Engineering, establish monitoring, reporting, and communications as appropriate for specific situations and overarching contexts. -Maintain and continually improve Process Safety Management processes and procedures. -Build project and organizational culture through coaching on importance and benefits of work safely. -Participate in compliance audits for process safety processes and procedures. -Coordinate risk identification and assessment sessions for design including siting studies, HAZIDs, HAZOPs, What-Ifs, LOPAs, and bowties as applicable. -Foster a safe environment for teammates and oneself to build PSM knowledge and application. -Focus on quality and safety to meet NexGen’s Elite Standards across all workstreams.

What You Bring

-Able to identify, articulate and problem solve for complex situations with consideration for outcomes. -Applied technical knowledge and analytical skills used to solve challenging and diverse problems. -Uses creative, conceptual, and/or inductive reasoning. -Maintains effective and professional approach, demonstrating resilience and accountability in a fluid fast paced work environment. -Maintains effective and professional approach, demonstrating resilience and accountability in a rapidly evolving organization and developing department. -15 years of industrial experience is required. -Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is preferred with background in Process, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering would be considered an asset. -Registration or demonstrated eligibility with APEGS as a Professional Engineer. -Effective verbal and written communication skills. -A Process Safety Professional Certification (CCPSC) is considered an asset. If not, will be part of an on-going development program. -Humility and continuous improvement mindset. -Effectively and safely perform in both office and field environments. -5 years of process safety management experience is required. -Deep technical knowledge process safety management including how the pillars span organizations.
