Overview
Assist with installing, inspecting, and maintaining power distribution facilities as a PLT apprentice.

Tasks
-May cover energized lines with rubber goods to facilitate safe handling of high-voltage lines without interrupting service -May climb poles and/or ride in bucket to install or repair wires, arms, insulators or other hardware on poles -Use insulated poles (hot sticks) fitted with mechanically or hydraulically operated grasping and crimping tools and/or rubber gloves and sleeves to perform energized line work -Install pole hardware and auxiliary equipment such as transformers, lightning arresters, switches, fuses and insulators, using hand tools and mechanical devices -Splice, solder and insulate conductors and related wiring to connect power distribution networks -Install and repair underground facilities such as cable, transformers, potheads and pedestals -Open and close switches and install grounding devices to lines and equipment -Erect and maintain poles, towers and guy wires

What You Bring
-Applicants must have legal authorization to work in Canada with no restrictions -Must be enrolled, or eligible to enroll, as a PLT apprentice with the Ontario Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission -Climb and work from heights and parallel to energized circuits -Knowledge of trade safety practices, procedures and safety requirements -Level One, Two, Three or Four Powerline Technician Apprentice -Valid Driver's License and ability to provide an acceptable Drivers Abstract -Willingness to work away from home and work a variety of shifts
