Senior Estimator

Analyzes plans and specs to produce accurate cost estimates for HVAC/plumbing projects.

Tasks

-Assist the Chief Estimator with day to day estimating operations -Produce conceptual estimates with limited information -Participate in prime/general contractor bid review meetings. -Assist in tracking bid status to acquire bid results. -Take an active role in Post Bid Scoping Meetings with clients -Review estimates done by other estimators -Perform detailed take-offs and produce estimate software reports -Protect the company from financial loss associated with errors or omissions -Maintain a high level of confidentiality -Consult with other departments to discuss/formulate estimates. -Review & qualify vendor/subcontractor quotes and against bid documents to ensure accurate scope coverage at the time of the bid. -Capture remaining estimating price data (i.e., management and general conditions costs) -Perform breakout, alternate & value engineering pricing as required. -Compute cost factors and prepares estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost-effectiveness. -Determine actual project scope and cost -Provide project turnover information after award and participate in turnover meetings. -Meet time schedules, deadlines, and plan and organize work -Identify, compile and submit RFI questions in a timely manner. -Attend Pre-Bid Surveys to incorporate site conditions into the estimate. -Estimating Software, Advanced Excel, Word, Outlook, and basic computer operations -Consult with clients, vendors, and Project Managers to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues. -Assist with proposal scope letters for accurate inclusions, exclusions & qualifications. -Track bid status to acquire bid results

-Modern office practices, procedures, and equipment -Oral and written communication skills -Be comfortable working with numbers and technology -Work confidently with discretion and independently with little direction -Multi-task with a fast-paced environment -Ability to successfully help manage the workload of the lower staff within the department -A valid Florida Driver's License is required. -Understands HVAC and plumbing codes and systems -Have great attention to detail -Communicate effectively both orally and in writing -Exhibit ability to successfully manage personnel within the department -Bachelor's Degree, or HS Diploma with 6 years estimating experience, or HS Diploma with 8-10 years trade-related experience. -Must have duct work experience -Be well organized and reliable -Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary
