Telecom/SUE Technician

Overview

Perform site visits, utility locating, GIS mapping, drafting, and construction monitoring.

Tasks

-Complete site visits including but not limited to utility locating, GIS mapping, documenting existing conditions, and manhole mapping -Provide office support for telecommunications and other utility projects using AutoCAD or other design software -Visit construction sites to monitor contractor safety and provide quality control to ensure the project is being built as specified in the plans and specifications -Encourages and supports a safety-oriented culture. -Occasionally travel overnight -Observe and document as-built conditions

What You Bring

-Associates Degree in Pre-engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, etc. or Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field -Familiarity with utility atlases/records and/or GIS programs -Experience in telecommunications, fiber optic, or utility design or construction -High School Diploma or equivalent -Ability to regularly lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/ or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/ or move up to 100 pounds. This role requires lifting, stooping, bending, stretching, walking, standing, climbing, pushing, pulling, and other physical exertion. -Experience with AutoCAD, Microstation or ARAMIS -Experience in Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) locating and/or surveying -Ability to work outside in a wide variety of weather and terrain conditions -0-3 years of relevant experience as a technician -Experience in fiber optic, copper, or coax splicing -Valid driver's license and be insurable under company insurance
