Tasks

This position is under the general direction of the SD Production Superintendent, and performs leadership duties that will ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the South Dakota generation assets. Performs all duties in compliance with plant policies, procedures, rules, and regulations pertaining to operations, safety, conduct, and housekeeping. Protects the generation assets in machinery, equipment and facilities by exercising care, skill and knowledge. -Relieves Plant Operators, when required, in times of personnel shortage or Emergency Operations -Perform individual lifts and manipulate equipment weighing up to 50 pounds -Assists the Compliance Coordinator with the Environmental QA/QC program and compliance with all environmental regulatory requirements -Demonstrate and maintain a good safety record -Performs assigned tasks in the qualification program for the Plant Staff -Provides general directions to subordinate classifications -Ensure all actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy's values, mission, and strategic business objectives -Assist in the training and development of Operations and Maintenance Staff -On limited basis, performs hands-on operational maintenance repairs, where necessary, and assists others making repairs to all equipment -Oversee the daily upkeep of necessary plant logs and records -Oversees the Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) program and database, including Red Tag Pro administration. -Directs operations and maintenance staff in the inspection, repair, and operation of the SD generation assets. -Prepare and submit required reports -Maintain the plant Operations Manuals and assure that operating policies and procedures are kept up-to-date -Assists SD Superintendent in development and monitoring of plant budgets, operating plan, and development of technicians. Performs other duties as assigned by the SD Superintendent -Responsible for inventory management and procurement -Provides hands-on leading-edge approaches to the facility's safety, health and training program -Oversees the monitoring, inspection, and control of all power production, auxiliary and facility equipment to ensure safe, legal, continuous and efficient operation. Ensures that plant emissions and effluents are within limits. Takes action necessary to prevent any safety violations, environmental excursions, or production loss.

What You Bring

Background Check: Required Drug Test: Required -Must possess at least 2 years' experience supervising represented technical, supervisory and administrative personnel -Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or equivalent work experience required -All NorthWestern Energy employees are required to adhere to company safety standards and the Code of Business Conduct & Ethics -Generates maintenance work order requests and purchases requisition requests. Is familiar with SAP -Valid drivers license and satisfactory driving record -Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining dual-fuel combustion turbines and reciprocating internal combustion engines, with preference given to candidates familiar with Solar, Caterpillar, and Mitsubishi equipment. -Must be able to work extended working hours and varied shifts with weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, work load, and plant conditions -Continually develops knowledge of the Plant and power plants in general -Must possess 5+ years of power plant or similar experience -Get Into Energy - Energy Industry Fundamental 2.0 certification is a plus (click here to certify at no cost) -Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate the workforce while maintaining collaboration, accountability, and performance standards -Must possess strong interpersonal communication skills
