Tasks

-Start to perform the role of Project Lead for less complex projects within the business unit with assistance from engineers and designers. -The employee is designated for field work and attends activities at client sites where they work in construction, process, packaging, manufacturing, research, or other "non-administrative" areas -Sets up views/sheets within Revit or AutoCAD for use on a project, utilizing established naming convention and drawing list prepared by the Project Lead. -Keeps the Project Lead informed of workload and any changes in project scope or additional services. -Works with equipment suppliers/vendors to obtain the necessary information needed for design completion. -Assists or works with a Project Lead with design computations and quantity estimates, and develops probable construction cost estimates. -Creates specialized drawings, such as operations matrices, elevations, or details and diagrams. -Researches and selects equipment based on recommendations of the Project Lead and fills out equipment schedules. -Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents. -Attend more site survey trips. -You will visit Client sites and will be required to adhere to stated safety rules. -Researches code issues and communicates with other disciplines. -Creates or modifies drawings based on markups generated by others. -Ensures acceptable levels of quality and checks for coordination of work to assure documents reflect design intent and necessary coordination. -Assists with the preparation of reports, specifications, plans, and supports construction for projects. -Researches design options and documents findings for the Project Lead.

What You Bring

-Expected to become proficient in the use of a computer for Design and Revit / CAD applications. -Must be able to adhere to strict cleanroom gowning protocol. -Learn how to perform basic fire protection engineering/design systems, such as all types of suppression systems and hazard classifications (wet/dry/pre-action/clean agent/foam/risers/details/schedules layout of these systems). -Overnight travel or staying in the city of Client’s location is possible depending on assignment. -Experience in computer operation for engineering design programs and computer-aided drafting (AutoCAD/Revit). -General knowledge of Plumbing and Fire Protection system design and applicable codes. -This position will have 5-20% travel, or as required by the assigned project. -Must have access to reliable transportation. -Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Mechanical or Fire Protection Engineering from an accredited four-year College or University. -2-5 years Engineering/design experience in the building design industry (for example, plumbing: drainage systems, utility systems, drainage/utility pump systems, sizing drainage/utility systems, water heaters, etc.). -Must be able to climb ladders as necessary. -Learn how to perform basic plumbing engineering/design systems, such as all types of drainage and service utility systems (plan/riser/P&ID/details/schedules layout of these systems). -Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. -Must possess the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as required. -Must have the ability to travel and commute on a daily or routine basis. -Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, which may include exposure to varying working conditions. -Must be able to stand, sit, and walk for prolonged periods.
