The Role

Overview

Assist with asphalt paving, equipment operation, and site preparation.

Tasks

-Load and unload tools, materials, and equipment at the job site. -Operate hand tools and small equipment (e.g., plate compactors, tampers, brooms). -Support the paving machine by feeding asphalt and maintaining a consistent workflow. -Follow instructions from foremen and other supervisors. -Perform daily equipment and tool checks and maintenance as needed. -Maintain a clean and safe work zone by clearing debris and adhering to safety guidelines. -Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment: Constantly -Directs traffic near, in, or around work zones. -Shovel, rake, and level hot mix asphalt. -Assist in the preparation of surfaces for paving (sweeping, cleaning, applying tack coat, etc.) -Ensure proper compaction and smoothness of asphalt during and after application. -Adjusting, moving and lifting objects in all directions: Constantly -Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like: Occasionally

What You Bring

-Knowledge of road and traffic regulations -Ability and willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions. -Medium work that includes moving objects up to 50 pounds: Constantly -Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers: Constantly -Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds: Constantly -Reliable transportation. -Ability to work long hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed. -Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds and push and/or pull 50-pound loads at a time. -Must be at least 18 years of age. -Must be willing to travel overnight when projects are outside the local area. -The ability to travel regionally or nationally: Never -Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods: Constantly -Comfortable with physical labor and standing for extended periods. -Heavy work that includes moving objects up to 100 pounds or more: Occasionally -Seeing to perform job duties at close range, such as monitors or screens: Rarely -Seeing to perform job duties at a distance, such as driving or operating equipment: Occasionally -Prior experience in asphalt paving or construction preferred but not required. -Willingness to work as part of a team and take direction. -Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, such as stooping, kneeling, or crouching: Constantly -Valid Drivers License. -Talking and hearing to communicate with others: Constantly
