The Role

Overview

Manage design, construction, and commissioning of hydropower projects in PA.

Tasks

-Manage the design, specification, cost, construction and commissioning of capital improvement projects. -Apply Brookfield Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies and procedures to all projects. Manage contracted work within these requirements. -Provide engineering support to operational staff to improve reliability and performance. -Ensure engineering records from assigned projects are properly stored for future reference. -Recommend corrective courses of action to management as issues arise. -Provide field inspection of all work in place to ensure that work performed is in accordance with the contract drawings, specifications, regulatory requirements and applicable codes. -Assist in capital and maintenance budget preparation. Plan and prioritize budgeted work for implementation. -Manage internal and external engineering resources to develop documents needed for construction and permitting. -Provide cost control and monthly spending forecasts on assigned projects. -Conduct pre-bid and pre-construction meetings with multiple contractors. -Prepare tendering documents, review and comment on bid packages to ensure design adequacy and constructability.

What You Bring

-Ability to travel within Pennsylvania. -Strong time management skills with the ability to organize, plan, prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects. -Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering disciplines or related field required. -Professional Engineers license not required but is desirable. -Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. -Experience/exposure in the hydropower, wind power or power generation field preferred. -Demonstrated ability to view tasks logically, break them down into essential requirements, and generate a solution to meet the project goals. -Core knowledge of construction techniques, construction/project management, and basic contract administration. -Effective oral and written communication skills. -Good negotiation skills with clients, contractors, and vendors. -Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team and to manage concurrent projects. -(3) to (5) years of experience in project engineering or construction management.
