Plant Helper/Laborer (Day Shift) | Garfield Sand & Gravel - Del Valle, TX

Overview

Assist with plant production, maintenance, and housekeeping tasks at a sand & gravel facility.

Tasks

-Maintain a clean and safe work environment. These duties include primarily shoveling spillage areas, also to include lubricating machinery, monitor the plant conveyors, shakers, crushers, feeders, and pumps, heavy ground maintenance, and inspect plant daily. -Assist with operation of other equipment, such as skid steer and water truck, as needed -Adhere to MSHA and plant safety rules, policies, procedures, and regulations -Maintains yard and equipment -Cleans conveyor belt areas and performs minor preventive maintenance and replaces worn/damaged components as needed. Assists with other maintenance as needed -Perform duties with minimum supervision -Follow all safety and environmental rules, regulations and procedures as set forth by company policies, MSHA, TCEQ and other regulators

What You Bring

-Must be able to work 12 hour shifts, possible weekends, overtime, and holidays as needed -Must have good hand/eye coordination and be able to operate hand/foot controls -Must be able to wear all required safety equipment -Must be able to climb stairs and ladders on a repetitive basis -Must be able to read and interpret gauges -This job requires the ability to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes -Must be able to read equipment operating manual -Must be able to complete pre-shift inspection report -Must be able to climb on and off equipment to operate and service -Possess good vision to perceive depth at close range and distances up to 150 feet -Must be able to use tools such as brooms/mops, shovels, weed eater, wheelbarrow and similar to perform duties -Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel in limited space in cab of vehicle -Must be able to follow instructions as well as make some independent decisions -Must be service oriented with proven ability to work in a TEAM environment -Plant experience a plus -Must be able to work at various heights -Must be able to communicate over CB radio or with hand signals and warning sounds, with coworkers regarding movement of vehicles and mobile equipment -High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience -Must work outside in all weather conditions consistent with extreme ambient temperatures: heat, cold, wetness, dryness, dust, and noisy conditions -Must be able to stoop, bend and lift 100 lbs. from ground to waist level on a repetitive basis -Must be able to perform duties in a safe and environmentally responsible manner -Must be able to sit and operate equipment for long periods up to 10+ hours per day
