Financial Manager – Home Builder

Tasks

-Oversee construction loan draws, equity contributions, and compliance with lender covenants. -Conduct scenario modeling and sensitivity analyses for new projects, land acquisitions, and development phases. -Provide executive management with key performance indicators (KPIs) and strategic insights. -Oversee construction job costing and ensure accurate allocation of direct and indirect costs. -Oversee internal controls, including segregation of duties, approval hierarchies, and audit preparedness. -Assist in securing financing for land development and vertical construction. -Supervise accounting and finance staff (AP, AR, Payroll, and Job Costing functions). -Monitor financial performance against budgets and report variances with actionable insights. -Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal and California state tax regulations, and local reporting requirements. -Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans. -Review project budgets, cost codes, and purchase orders in coordination with Project Managers. -Collaborate with Operations, Land Development, and Sales to align financial objectives. -Track Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and margin projections per community or phase. -Support annual financial audits and tax filings with external accountants. -Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. -Manage cash flow forecasting and banking relationships. -Maintain cost-to-complete reporting and support draw requests with lenders.

What You Bring

-Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. -Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred). -Strong knowledge of California tax and regulatory environment. -Proficiency in Excel and financial modeling. -5–10 years of progressive experience in construction, homebuilding, or real estate development accounting. -Experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage 300 Construction & Real Estate, BuilderTREND, or similar). -Strong understanding of construction job costing, WIP accounting, and percentage-of-completion methods. -Exceptional organizational and leadership skills.
