Tasks

As a Senior Structural Design Engineer, you’ll take the lead on the design of steel structures, working both independently and collaboratively within our design team. You’ll be responsible for delivering accurate, safe, and efficient design solutions, coordinating with clients and other disciplines to ensure successful project outcomes. You’ll report to the Head of Design and play a vital role in supporting and mentoring graduate engineers, contributing to continuous improvement across the business. -Manage and deliver projects within agreed design budgets. -Work proactively with clients, engineers, architects, and subcontractors to coordinate information and resolve design issues. -Support the training and development of graduate engineers. -Maintain strong client relationships and deliver high-quality work that reflects Elland Steel’s reputation for excellence. -Adhere to company QA procedures and contribute to process improvements. -Produce both manual and software-based design calculations. -Use software such as Tekla Structural Designer, Tekla Portal Designer, Masterseries, S-Frame, Idea Statica, and cold-rolled design tools. -Design steel frames, members, and connections in accordance with British and European standards. -Attend and lead project meetings as required.

What You Bring

-Ability to work independently and as part of a team. -Proven experience with a UK-based steelwork fabricator. -Minimum 10 years’ experience in structural steelwork design. -Working towards, or holding, Incorporated or Chartered status. -Degree educated in Civil or Structural Engineering. -Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. -Permanent, full-time position based at Halifax or Billingham offices. -Knowledge of temporary works design (advantageous).
