Tasks

-Plan, organize and supervise work of medium to large staff of professionals and technicians as needed -Conduct analyses of artifacts and features. -Conduct field work, participate in meetings and develop compliance strategies -Coordinate and consult with state/federal agencies and Indian Tribes -Develop proposals and assist in managing the scope schedule, and budget for cultural resources projects. -Manage archaeological resources and where necessary, develop plans and approaches to optimize the personnel / teams efficiency. -Provide strategic Section 106 support and guidance for complex cultural resources projects. -Serve as Project Manager on larger projects as needed, but project management is not sole focus of position -Take responsibility for conducting archaeological surveys, investigations, and site evaluations, and developing reports, findings, and management or mitigation plans. -Serve as a technical expert with recognized authority in an area of specialization that resolves problems of greater scope and complexity as needed

What You Bring

-Demonstrated capability to successfully manage projects, scope, schedule and budget. -Master’s degree strongly preferred. -Strong leadership and supervision abilities, including problem solving, constructive conflict resolution, and decision making -Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Architectural History or closely related field -Secretary of Interior Qualified -Willingness to lead, manage, and develop a growing team of cultural resources professionals in New England -Can obtain state archaeologist permits throughout New England States -Requires ability to travel -GIS skills for data acquisition and interpretation preferred (experience with ArcGIS online and ESRI ArcPro -Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational and analytical skills -Proven proposal development and client management skills -Successful candidates must be familiar with field study design and documentation, regulatory framework for cultural resource management, and GIS utilities -Proven ability to manage multiple field crews -Candidates who reside locally to HDR’s Providence, RI office are preferred. -Experience with Microsoft Office, Word and Excel -Strong understanding of Sections 106 and 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act and the process for identifying and evaluating archaeological sites and resolving adverse effects. -Ability to travel to a location, walk and conduct fieldwork for long hours, sometimes in inclement weather, rugged terrain, or at high altitudes, and ability to carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds is required -Excellent communication and client interaction skills -Current valid driver’s license and the ability to safely operate a vehicle on rugged, backcountry roads is required -A minimum of 10 years Archaeological experience, a minimum of 5 years experience in planning, managing and executing archeological investigations -Must be able to handle cultural resources in a variety of geographic settings throughout the US -Excellent oral and written communication skills -Team player with strong ability take initiative and solve problems using sound judgment
