Engineer II - VA/VE

Generac

The Role

Overview

Design and deliver cost‑reduction solutions for home standby generators

Key Responsibilities

  • cost reduction
  • cad modeling
  • design validation
  • value engineering
  • bom management
  • team development

Tasks

-Designs, develops, validates and delivers cost reduction opportunities aligned with application testing, product specifications and process validation plans for home standby generators and/or components; creates and reviews material part specifications and bills of materials. -Develops less experienced engineers. -Specifies precise new product functional requirements; designs, tests and integrates moderately complex components to produce final designs; and evaluates the design's overall effectiveness, cost (including cost/benefit analysis), reliability (risk analysis) and safety. -Designs, validates, and delivers product cost reductions to market -Provides product support to the Consumer Power Home Standby product line including: Value Add/Value Engineering (VA/VE) ideation, creating and maintaining CAD models, drawings and BOMs, supporting product cost-out plans including schedule management, interfacing with internal company personnel and providing technical support for assigned projects. -Collaborates with internal manufacturing partners, sourcing engineers, designers and product specialists to optimize designs for highest cost efficiency. -Supporting product development plans (schedule, product cost, meeting design inputs). -Utilizes CAD (Computer Aided Design) or CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) systems to model new designs and produce detailed engineering drawings.
