Tasks

-Liaise with clients or other stakeholders on technical matters. -Keep up to date with industry best practice and where appropriate, brief junior environmental staff. -Advise on environmental aspects of projects including but not limited to SEAs, EIAs, ecological studies, energy use, environmental risks, etc. -Be responsible for environmental staff in respect of timekeeping; technical training requirements; development and resourcing. -Checks to ensure compliance with the Integrated Management System and assist in its development. -Act as technical approver for major environmental schemes including EIAs, SEAs, environmental technical reports, scoping and feasibility studies. -Ensure compliance with Health and Safety, Environmental and other appropriate regulations. -Provide guidance on best methods and practice meeting technical and project requirements. -Provide Health & Safety leadership to team and contract, with responsibility for maintaining high H&S standards for all survey and site work, and general H&S standards at all times in support of Amey’s Zero Code. -Plan and manage project resourcing requirements, ensuring best use of internal resources while demonstrating competency requirements. -Coordinate statutory and non-statutory environmental assessment work for transportation, utility and other infrastructure schemes liaising with client representatives, planning, project design teams, technical leads and other relevant bodies and organisations. -Effective management and response of project related correspondence -To contribute with other professions in the Business Development process in producing information for PQQs and Tenders.

What You Bring

-A strong undergraduate degree in Environmental or similar/equivalent. -Knowledge of the planning process and permitted development would be beneficial. -A relevant master’s degree in a discipline associated with Environmental Science, Sustainable Development or similar (desirable). -Strong project management skills with the ability to plan and deliver works in line with budgets and programme deadlines. -Chartered status (CEnv, CSci) -Experience of managing a team of multi-skilled environmental and sustainability consultants and/or third-party contractors. -Strong written and verbal communication skills and the aptitude to rationally explain, explore and discuss environmental and sustainability issues and capture feedback. -Experience of working closely with regulatory authorities and various stakeholders. -Health and Safety awareness, especially safe working practices and risk assessment related to fieldwork. -Have experience working to deliver sustainable solutions and outcomes; through both design and construction. -Demonstrable post-graduate experience preferably in a professional consultancy role (or similar) encompassing large rail/infrastructure projects. -Be confident in making key decisions on a daily basis.
