Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations (e.g., hazardous waste manifests, WSIB, MOE). Serve as the primary point of contact for state and local government agencies. Approve regulatory documentation including USMCA Certificates of Origin and import/export compliance (Canada). Sign off on site policies and oversee Management of Change (MOC) and Emergency Action Planning (EAP).
Lead coordination of critical cross-functional decisions impacting departmental operations.
Effectively manages production operations with federal, state, and municipal environmental, health and safety regulations.
Anticipate technological changes in the industry and review opportunities to enhance operations in order to optimize productivity, support business growth, and deliver competitive advantages.
Develop and manage the strategies and processes of the operational functions within the site; ensure alignment and progress on process standardization, accomplishment, and collaboration.
Negotiate and manage site lease agreements and vendor contracts.
Regularly monitor and review Environmental, Health, and Safety performance; ensure compliance and continuous improvement in striving for a risk-free manufacturing environment.
Be actively engaged in Safety and Quality; lead by example and ensure operational discipline and compliance with both company and regulatory safety standards and requirements are fulfilled for all departments and functions on site.
Provide the critical thinking necessary to lead and direct the analysis of alternative approaches and methodologies necessary to deliver efficiencies and simplicity.
Conformance with the PPG and SBU Quality and EH&S policies. Ensure MOCs, RCCA for EHS CARs and Quality CARs are completed as expected.
Generate ideas and plans to enhance the performance of the manufacturing site, e.g., safety, process, rate, yields and quality improvement through lean manufacturing and six sigma concepts. Stimulate site personnel to think outside the box.
The incumbent, in combination with quality, is responsible for obtaining and maintaining appropriate quality standards and certifications.
Oversee working capital management including stocking level optimization and purchase order requisition approvals.
Deliver financial commitments to operating plans; achieve expense, variance, and production plans as budgeted.
Facilitate communications throughout the site and within the respective SBU, Platform, and Functional teams offsite.
Delegates work assignments and tasks while matching responsibilities to the employee; sets expectations and monitors performance while providing feedback and recognition of results.
Drive the root cause/corrective action process for critical issues and ensure that all corrective actions are completed and sustained and drive the predicted results.
Strive to ensure that the service requirements for performance, as dictated by internal and external customers, are achieved.
Monitor and improve Key Performance Indicators; lead corrective action to deviations to plan as appropriate.
Actively participate in Working Capital management; including regular communication and action to address deviations to plan.
