The Role

Overview

Hands‑on traffic engineering placement designing and modelling urban transport networks.

Tasks

-Analysing traffic data, journey times, and flows to inform design and planning. -Designing and modelling urban streets, junctions, and roundabouts using industry-standard software (e.g., Junctions, LinSig, VISSIM). -Supporting traffic impact assessments and microsimulation modelling. -Assisting with road safety audits and developing traffic management solutions. -Contributing to active travel projects by designing walking, cycling, and public transport-friendly networks. -Preparing drawings, reports, and presentations to communicate findings to clients and stakeholders. -Supporting feasibility studies and scheme appraisals for transport improvements.

What You Bring

-Have good Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). -Can work effectively as part of a team and communicate ideas clearly. -Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with solid numeracy. -Are detail-oriented with excellent research and report writing skills. -Are currently studying towards a degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation/Traffic Engineering, Highway Engineering, or a related discipline. -Are self-motivated, enthusiastic, and eager to learn new software and tools. -Are eligible to work in the UK & Ireland for the duration of the placement.
