Senior Fire Engineer to design, assess and ensure fire safety compliance for projects.

Tasks

-Perform fire and gas location layout and philosophy. -Perform Consequence modeling and gas dispersion study. -Contribute to or prepare technical reports in various phases of engineering -Perform fire hazard assessment design calculations and ensures plans are compliant with relevant codes and standards -Responsible for conducting fire risk analysis, code compliance assessments and conceptual fire safety designs. Independent detail engineering and consulting on projects with respect to the International Building & Fire Codes and related NFPA and FM Global standards. -Provide inputs for piping and Instrument diagram (P&ID) -Collaborate on exciting projects to develop innovative solutions -Prepare, review and issue material requisition for different mechanical equipment (Fire water pump, foam system, sprinkler and Spray system, firefighting equipment, etc.) -Prepare hazardous area classification. -Perform Hydraulic calculation report. -Prepare, review and evaluate vendor technical bid evaluation and technical queries for different mechanical equipment (Fire water pump, foam system, sprinkler and Spray system, firefighting equipment, etc.) -Support site field visits to obtain information and data to support projects. -Participate in and contribute to design reviews -Responsible for providing services across several sectors including mining, power, nuclear, thermal, infrastructure and oil and gas.

What You Bring

-Good understanding of the flow of information and data within a project environment. -Understanding of construction and commissioning methodologies for the discipline. -Problem-solving and decision-making skills -DNV _PHAST and SAFETI -CFD modeling -A post graduate qualification in Fire Engineering is considered a strong asset. -Strong personal commitment to safety -Be able to understand and achieve cost, quality, and timeline goals. -Have some experience in developing performance-based strategies and/or code alternates, utilizing fire engineering -Full time Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from an accredited College or University -Understanding of commercial management as it relates to the equipment package or contract. -Experience within a large project, multidisciplinary EPC/EPCM environment. Experience in metals and minerals processing industry would be an advantage. -Experience between 8 to 20 years -Aptitude towards alternative compliance approaches, and thinking “outside the box” -Ability to apply technical knowledge to various practical problems -Strong communication skills and ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships in complex and changing environments. -Familiar with operability and maintainability reviews, HAZOP studies. -Understanding of other discipline interfaces and requirements -Time management skills and good adaptation to change. -Thorough knowledge of industry or regulatory standards, regulations, and codes pertinent to the design and systems related to the project -To be able to work alone or in a team under minimum supervision. -Strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and relationship management skills -Ability to maintain good business relations with the various parties involved in the project.
