The Role

Overview

Geologist performs fieldwork, mapping, reports, and project coordination in San Diego.

Tasks

-Preparation of technical reports, memoranda, work plans, specifications, and proposals. -Project planning and coordination including subcontractor procurement, sampling and health and safety plan development, project management support with client and regulatory interfacing. -Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed. -Geological fieldwork such as soil and rock core logging; geologic mapping; geohazard assessments, drilling, and contractor oversight, under the supervision of an experienced and licensed professional. -Preparation of geologic maps, geologic cross sections, tables, and figures.

What You Bring

-Experience with geographic information system (GIS) software. (valuable) -Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to project sites as needed. (required) -Strong oral and technical writing skills. (required) -Ability and interest in obtaining professional licensure in the State of California. (valuable) -Bachelor's degree in geology or other related geosciences. (required) -Experience in identification of geohazards. (valuable) -At least 5 years of related experience with geologic field work, geotechnical drilling, rock coring, or geologic mapping, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required) -Ability and willingness to perform fieldwork and travel. (required) -Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required. -Advanced degree in geology, engineering geology, civil or geotechnical engineering. (preferred) -Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required) -Professional registration (i.e., P.G., C.E.G.) (preferred)

Benefits

-Minimum Salary: $84,710/year / Maximum Salary: $110,125/year (San Diego, CA)
