Collect and analyze GIS data in the field to support utility mapping and design.

Tasks

-Collect field data using proprietary software to update utilities GIS and make design determinations. -Compile geographic data from sources like censuses, field observation, satellite imagery, and aerial photographs. -Enter new map data using cartography principles including coordinate systems, longitude, latitude, elevation, topography, and map scales. -Make informed in-field design suggestions based on collected data. -Work as a member of the Pole Transfer/Joint Use Make Ready Team for in-field GIS data collection. -Manage equipment effectively and remain in varying field conditions for multiple hours each day. -Use telescoping hasting sticks and digital measuring technologies to measure joint use attachment heights and utility-owned distribution lines. -Analyze spatial data for geographic statistics to incorporate into documents and reports.

What You Bring

-Proficiency in GIS software, specifically Esri's ArcGIS suite. -General computer skills. -Previous outdoor field experience, such as internships or academic projects. -Valid Driver’s License and ability to maintain a rental car. -Experience with CAD design software. -Understanding of cartography principles. -Familiarity with ArcMap and engineering technology. -Experience with in-field data collection.
