Test Engineer Electrician

Overview

Commission, test, and troubleshoot medium voltage systems for solar PV/BESS projects.

Tasks

-Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, site owners and other stakeholders -Provide technical support to other field personnel during installation and commissioning -Perform pre-testing and witness testing of PV/BESS systems with AHJ -Stay current on industry developments and new technologies in acceptance and maintenance testing. -Troubleshoot and repair issues arising during commissioning -Perform functional testing, including protection and control schemes, on medium voltage systems including interconnection equipment specifically for PV/BESS systems -Prepare and review commissioning documentation, including test procedures and as-built drawings -Perform acceptance testing and commissioning of reclosers, and protection and control systems in accordance with NETA/NICET standards -Perform acceptance and maintenance testing of variety of equipment from low voltage switchboard to point of interconnection. -Ensure that all equipment is installed and commissioned in accordance with manufacturer's specifications and industry standards

What You Bring

-Journeyman license or Associates/Bachelor's degree in Electrical Power Engineering or equivalent electrical experience in a related field. -Wellbeing and Employee Assistance -OSHA 30 Certification -Thermography certifications (Level 1) -Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly -Strong problem-solving and analytical skills -CPR/First Aid -Knowledge of National Electrical Code and standard design/construction practices -Ability to sit or drive for prolonged periods -Medium voltage experience should be related to protection and control schemes with level of expertise in SEL relays -Ability to work in extreme weather -IT/networking skills: familiarity with RS485, Modbus, tcp/ip, etc. -Ability to move safely over uneven terrain -Ability to read and understand electrical single-line and three-line diagrams as well as other construction/DAS/design drawings or permitting documentation -Experience performing testing of transformers, reclosers, primary meters, and SEL relays -Must be able to work independently and in a team environment -Clear understanding of OSHA safe workplace practices and procedures -Completion of NFPA 70E courses -NICET Electrical Power Testing certifications -Must be able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment -Ability to safely climb ladders while carrying 50 pounds -Excellent verbal and written communication skills -Experience interpreting wiring diagrams to prepare relay logic and protection schemes.
