The Role

Overview

Design and draft vessel fitout from concept to delivery, ensuring standards.

Tasks

-Maintain an efficient filing system and ensure that all work is stored in appropriate locations. -Remains well acquainted with the task schedule and regularly checks progress and upcoming deliverables. -Design support for production, commissioning, and delivery. -Preparation of design and drawings including presentations, specifications and reports. -Produces accurate information and documentation, which meets all procedural and auditable requirements.

What You Bring

-A solid understanding of production methods and the practical application of design. -Proficient in design software, AutoCAD, and Microsoft office suite. -Effectively and efficiently communicate through drawings, verbal, and written means to all necessary parties. -A basic understanding of typical ship mechanical systems, to the extent of how they work, and the interface between the structural, electrical, and mechanical systems is ideal for this position. -Technical knowledge of fitout products. -Experience working within a similar position, designing the elements of all fitout/outfitting elements on both, aluminium & steel, high speed vessels. -Experience in design within the marine industry. -Demonstrates a high attention to detail. -Work produced is of a high quality and consistent with Austal and design & engineering standards. -Design or interior design background. -A sound practical and working knowledge of regulatory bodies’ rules and regulations, and the ability to liaise and communicate with them as necessary. -Interior design/outfitting qualifications or equivalent. -Construction white card. -Good understanding of data and document management principals
