Regional Payroll Specialist

Overview

Ensures accurate, timely payroll for 600+ union/nonunion employees across sites.

Tasks

-Calculate and prepare manual layoff/termination/adjustment checks. -Process and set up credit union accounts and payments. -Prioritize and process all timecards, corrections, and adjustments from field locations. -Keep current on state and federal regulations to ensure accurate compliance with payroll accounting laws, regulations, and requirements. -Assist in payroll-related month-end closing activities. -Processes transfers to ensure checks print in the correct location. -Ensure accuracy and timely delivery of payroll checks to all site locations. -Provides training to subordinates. -Input over-scale and special agreements. -Keep accurate control and distribution of payroll-related reports and payments. -Set-up garnishments, 3rd party payments. -Acts as a resource and provides training as needed. -Processing an accurate transfer of the weekly costing and ENCE transfers for all payrolls. -Maintain and update rate changes for employee’s and processes retro payments if required. -Run Transfer to GL. -Produces payroll reports as required for state, federal, union, or corporate reporting purposes.

What You Bring

-Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs. -General work environment – sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning -Associate degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline -Organizational awareness -Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary -Ability to be self-motivated, proactive and an effective team player -Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude -Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others -Financial/payroll/tax related training a plus, either formal classes or seminars -Attention to detail -Effective oral and written communication skills as required for the position -Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.); Oracle preferred -Minimum 6 years’ work experience in payroll, preferably with a union employer -Proficient with in-house software and experienced in downloading and transmitting report details. -10-key, light typing
