The Role

Overview

Install and repair water, sanitary and storm sewer pipelines, including trenching and pipe laying.

Tasks

-Cut pipes to required lengths -Dig trenches to desired or required depths, by hand or using trenching tools -Install and use instruments such as lasers, grade rods, and transit levels -Grade and level trench bases, using tamping machines and hand tools -Assist with the covering of pipes with earth or other materials. -Work in outdoor environments in all seasons -Installation and repair of waterline, sanitary sewer and storm sewer -Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with customers and co-workers -Ensure the company's health and safety culture, policies and requirements are met

What You Bring

-Ability to align and position pipes to prepare them for joining. -Be comfortable working alongside heavy equipment and able to communicate with operators, workers and pedestrians -Ability to connect pipe pieces and seal joints -Work in confined and enclosed spaces -Willing to train others in pipe-laying and provide supervision. -Minimum of 1 year experience on a utility crew -Must pass pre-employment physical/drug screening -Ability to read cut/grade sheets -Ability to check slopes for conformance to requirements, using levels or lasers -Working knowledge of shoring and excavation
