Tasks

-Prepare engineering studies, documents, and reports -Attend project meetings with clients -Projects may include traffic operations analysis, traffic signal design, traffic signal timing development, corridor planning studies, transportation safety studies, roadway master planning, long range transportation planning, and transportation modeling (micro and macro) -Work on traffic signal design plans for new intersections and signal modifications to facilitate multimodal accommodations -Perform routine aspects of assignments requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles -Assist with and prepare roadway design plans -Assist East Gulf Manager in development of junior engineering staff -Learn project budgets to meet financial metrics -Work on temporary traffic control plan/traffic management plan (TMP) and signing, pavement marking plans -Assist in preparing conceptual intersection layouts, schematics, signal timings and engineering reports

What You Bring

-Familiarity with CUBE Voyager and TransCAD is a plus -PTOE, PTP, and/or RSP certifications are a plus -A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR) -Competency with traffic engineering and transportation planning practices and procedures -Must be dependable with the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team to meet deadlines and provide high quality work -Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines -Familiarity with OpenRoads Designer is desired but not required -Valid driver’s license -Competency with MS Office products -B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering from ABET accredited engineering program -Competency with Synchro, VISSIM, SIDRA, HCS, and Microstation -Potential to learn and participate in business development activities -5+ years of experience – Must be in traffic engineering and/or transportation planning with a history of progressive growth in project responsibilities -Alabama PE License required
