  • Collaborate with internal leaders and external partners to embed best practice and continuous improvement in HSW performance.
  • Lead, coach, and support a team of HSW Advisors across regional and site-based projects.
  • Design and deliver impactful HSW training for leaders and teams, with a focus on risk identification and mitigation.
  • Develop and implement HSW policies aligned with Summerset’s HSWMS and NZ legislation. Ensure robust internal and external audit processes.
  • Manage investigations, maintain the Construction Risk Register, use DoneSafe for incident reporting, and oversee hazard, risk, and contractor management.
  • Lead the HSW relationship with the Chief Construction Officer and Construction SLT. Develop and deliver the annual HSW plan for construction.
  • Drive critical risk management initiatives and champion wellbeing programmes including Mates in Construction.

  • Relevant Health & Safety qualifications
  • Desirable: Certified H&S Practitioner (NZISM, IOSH, HASANZ), audit certifications
  • Strong knowledge of NZ H&S legislation and audit standards
  • 10+ years’ experience in a senior HSW role, with a minimum of 5 years of HSW experience within the construction industry
  • Proven leadership and coaching experience
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data
