Section Engineer

Overview

Provide technical support for tunnel construction, handling docs, QA, planning and safety.

Tasks

-Excellence: Promoting innovation, development, training and continuous improvement to achieve the highest quality of project delivery. -Establish records: calibration documents and check registers for all instruments on site, including subcontractor’s instruments. -Prepare and manage Inspection and Test Plans, defining all testing and record requirements in accordance with the Quality Assurance Plan and the Self Certification Plan. -Carry out checks for quality in accordance with the inspection and test plan throughout the contract and duly record. -Assist the Tunnel Agent in managing sections of the work/specific sub-contract packages. -Monitoring the implementation of the ITPs, reviewing and scrutinising construction records and compiling handover quality record packs. -Progress planning and reporting (cost and schedule reporting) -Assist the Tunnel Agent in the preparation of 3-week look-ahead programmes and progress reporting. -Prepare the Method Statements and Risk Assessments defining the Safe System of Work, in consultation with the construction team. -Carry out surveys of completed works to record as-built conditions, and prepare redline drawings.

What You Bring

-Quality control, certificate and compliance -Experience in preparing Risk Assessments and Methods Statements. -Construction records, testing and as built information. -Hold a CSCS card -Strong knowledge of the SCL tunnelling method, tunnel waterproofing and RC concrete works, including on-site testing requirements. -Experience preparing handover documentation, including ITP Quality Record Packs and Redline Drawings, preferable. -Educated to degree or higher level or equivalent in a numerate discipline, typically an Engineering discipline. -Experience working as a Site Engineer or Section Engineer on SCL tunnelling projects, preferably a TFL or London Underground project. -Excellent communication skills, with the ability to write concise documents detailing Safe Systems of Works, work plans, and Temporary Work Design Briefs.
