The Role

Overview

Supervises line crews, installs/maintains energized distribution systems and equipment.

Tasks

-Drives and operates conveyance machinery equipped with tools and materials to and from job site. -May work in storm restoration operations to rebuild and/or repair damaged power systems. -May attend training classes or seminars to gather knowledge of new processes, safety regulations and/or refresher training. -Perform work in a safe manner on energized and de-energized distribution systems. -Climbing on and off large trucks and equipment. -Lifting and handling materials up to 60 pounds unassisted. -Inspects, maintains company equipment, and trucks in safe working order. -Adheres to all Company Safety and Health Policies -May be required to read and interpret blueprints.

What You Bring

-Capable of climbing wooden poles and towers. -Has the ability to troubleshoot problems on distribution systems? -Has worked in the line industry as an apprentice lineman for at least 4 years. -Experienced in pole/tower climbing using fall protection systems. -May be required to hold a valid class “B” commercial driver’s license. -Able to string, sag, and dead-end conductor. -Capable of properly inspecting rubber goods, cover materials, and PPE -Understands safe heavy lifting and rigging procedures. -Ability to safely set/replace poles (wooden, steel, concrete) on an energized distribution system. -Experienced in identifying primary and secondary voltage on a circuit. -Walking and working across uneven terrain. -Able to safely install and remove mechanical jumpers. -Capable of safely performing a re-conductor job -Has the skill sets to safely operate a digger derrick and bucket truck? -Understands procedures to safely dig holes in the presence of underground utilities. -Understands minimum approach distances. -Capable of safely installing and removing cover up material -Exposure to hot and cold weather conditions. -Must be able to conduct a Job Task Safety Analysis (JTSA) as required.
