Tasks

-Establish, monitor, and ensure compliance with established accounting policies and internal control requirements, addressing gaps or risks proactively. -Lead and direct the organization's accounting operations, ensuring effective management of the general ledger, reporting, and reconciliation processes across all affiliates. -Lead and coordinate annual financial audit activities, including preparation and review of audit schedules and documentation. -Drive continuous improvement in accounting operations and reporting processes to enhance efficiency and scalability. -Partner with affiliates to provide financial insight, guidance, and support for decision-making and performance improvement. -Leads by example, driving a values-based culture while shaping and executing strategies that advance long-term organizational goals. -Oversee the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of accounting systems, policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across multiple entities. -Mentor and develop accounting team members, fostering professional growth, accountability, and operational excellence. -Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and supporting schedules, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards and internal policies. -Manages workflow of direct reports while providing guidance on complex issues. -Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring the integrity of financial statements and adherence to reporting deadlines.

What You Bring

-Expertise in preparing and analyzing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. -Certified Public Accountant preferred. -Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time. -Deep understanding of GAAP, including percentage of completion revenue recognition and other technical accounting requirements to ensure accurate financial reporting and analysis. -Strong expertise in designing, implementing, and maintaining internal control systems and procedures leveraging efficient processes and technology to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data. -Proficiency with accounting software systems and other relevant technologies. -Thorough understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. -5+ years of experience directly supervising staff with increasing responsibility. -Ability to work on computer for extended periods of time. -Proficiency with both general ledger and project accounting, including processes to close the books. -Recognized as an empathetic leader fostering engagement, trust, accountability, and the development of staff. -In-depth understanding of organizational operations and their financial implications to support sound business decisions. -Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field AND 10+ years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. -Experience leading accounting functions within the engineering, professional services, or construction industries preferred. -Public accounting experience preferred. -Strong and influential interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization. -Limited travel required. -Demonstrated customer-focused and responsive approach to both people management and internal service delivery.
