Overview

Prepare hazardous waste for incineration safely and efficiently

Tasks

-Break down and extract waste materials (including hard solids that may require jackhammer) from various vendor containers and dumps into mixing pan. -Dump waste hoppers and clean process area and maintain cleanliness around department. -Record all material processed to maintain in-process inventory data using electronic scanning devices. -Suit up with proper personal protection equipment and other necessary equipment for environmental protection. -Communicate with all leadmen and on-coming shift crews as required. -Process materials into various combinations of solids, mixes and/or slurries and repackages into charge boxes per process/plan; weighs all charges to meet, process, plan specifications. -Assemble boxes and stage all necessary materials for processing and repackaging waste into charge boxes for incinerator. -Reclaim vendor drums for recycling and crush drums that are not re-usable. -Add, subtract, multiply and divide decimals and fractions, simple use of formulas, charts, use adjustable measuring instruments where interpretation is required. -Shrink-wrap charges; move to incinerator dock for burning. -Maintain a complete inventory of personal protection equipment and other department supplies. -Consolidate material from drums into roll-off containers for incineration. -Change out air supply banks (provides clean air source for personal protective suits) as required.

What You Bring

-High School diploma or GED required -Trained in the use of material handling equipment -Ability to communicate through reading and writing -40-Hour HAZWOPER training preferred
