Helper Multicraft

Overview

Assist journeymen with maintenance and installation of industrial equipment and piping.

Tasks

-Exercise discretion and independent judgement when handling day to day information -Maintain the work area in a neat and orderly condition and cooperates with other departments in housekeeping endeavors -Relay appropriate information to foreman -Attaches slings or cables to objects requiring lifting -Cooperate with superintendents, foreman, supervisors in the shop, and coworkers -Constantly perform repeating motions that may include feet, leg, wrists, hands and/or fingers -Cuts materials to required dimensions -Cleans up work area when job is completed and returns materials and equipment to appropriate location -Participate in daily safety meetings, JSA’s and audits -Bolts or unbolts assemblies using hand tools, such as wrenches, screwdrivers, and prying bars -May install packing’s, catalysts, and desiccants in vessels -Carries tools and equipment to job site -Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting company’s safety culture

What You Bring

-Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings -Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in construction -Measure, reads blueprints, must be able to use square, measuring tape, and ruler -Ability to complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail -Knowledge on how to cut, bevel, and grind -Work that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 50 pounds, carry at least 30 pounds and up to 150 pounds with help -Ability to work outdoors, exposed to heat and humidity, cold and rain, and around heavy traffic areas -Excellent time-management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities -Ability to pass an HMC written craft test -Ability and willingness to travel as required -Ability to work cooperatively across all levels delivering on commitments – results oriented -At least 3 years’ experience as a helper -Ability to operate job related tools -Excellent verbal and written communication skills -High School Diploma or GED required -Ability to work under pressure to meet department targets and deadlines -Ability to work non-routine hours, when necessary
