  • Awareness and Training: Promote EHS awareness by developing and delivering internal company communications, safety training, and specialized EHS programs to the workforce.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure facility compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, covering aspects such as solid waste, hazardous waste, stormwater, air emissions, wastewater, community right-to-know, and petroleum storage.
  • Ergonomic Planning: Utilize ergonomic guidelines to address current manufacturing injury concerns and future model planning, contributing to overall employee safety.
  • EHS Programs: Prepare, update, and maintain written safety, health, and environmental programs and policies, generating applicable metrics for tracking.
  • Engineering Collaboration: Support corporate and plant engineering in implementing engineering controls to reduce environmental, safety, and health hazards.
  • Permit to work (PTW): Serve as the PTW expert, supporting job hazard assessments (JHA), job safety analysis (JSA), risk assessments, and personal protective equipment (PPE) matrix development, as well as auditing permit paperwork for compliance.
  • Incident Investigation: Review injury/illness reports and non-injury incident investigations, follow up on trends, recommend countermeasures, and support management in action planning.
  • EHS Support and Compliance: Provide environmental, health, and safety (EHS) support to plant personnel, ensuring compliance with all applicable environmental, occupational safety, and health regulations.
  • SDS Management: Support production areas with submittals of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to ensure they are electronically maintained in a database to support site compliance with environmental and safety regulations.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in safety science, engineering, or industrial engineering discipline is preferred.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Proven ability to work cross-functionally with teams in Operations, Maintenance, Logistics, Engineering, and Quality.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, hear; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach and lift with hands and arms frequently throughout the day.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • EPCRA Compliance: Knowledge of Tier 2 Reports, Toxic Release Inventory Reports, and other reporting requirements for industrial facilities.
  • Required to occasionally lift, push, pull and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally required to lift, push, pull and/or move up to 35 pounds.
  • Understands and follows all standards of IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 quality standards. (training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)
  • RCRA Compliance: Knowledge of hazardous waste regulations pertaining to Large Quantity Generators (LQGs) and management of hazardous waste tank systems.
  • Understands and follows all standards of ISO14001 environmental standards. (training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)
  • Occasional domestic travel to other gigafactory locations or regional compliance meetings may be required.
  • Life Safety Design: Familiarity with IBC/IFC/NFPA101 for life safety design requirements.
  • Title V Air Permit: Experience with compliance, conditions, and tracking of CFC inventory logs, RICE MACT generator data logs, and chemical tracking.
  • Experience: 2-5 years of experience supporting safety, health, and environmental operations within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • State and Federal Safety Standards: Extensive knowledge of state and federal safety standards and a working knowledge of the company’s manufacturing processes.
