Overview

Lead and manage the Austin Land Development practice, overseeing P&L, staff, and business development.

Tasks

-Create an annual business plan with your Project Managers and present it to the Area Manager - Vice President. The plan will focus on qualitative and quantitative aspects. -Maintain an Open Door Policy. -Promote internal communication and encourage dialogue within project teams, across market sectors, and throughout the organization. -Communicate with Human Resources regarding hiring, review, promotion, retention, and termination of employees. -Build an organizational chart and hire towards those goals. -Review professional and market segment publications. -Manage all members of the team with authority to recruit, interview, onboard, train, evaluate, promote, and discipline. -Performance Management: Initiate and follow-up on reviews, support and provide details for improvement plans, and ensure successfully development of staff. -Cultivate key client relationships. -Risk management; contract review, proposal review, licensing review. -Develop growing pipeline and proactively build and maintain relationships with current and future clients. -Promote an entrepreneurial growth environment. -Maintain awareness of the safety aspects/requirements of projects from a team perspective and appropriate engagement, direction, and training with safety for the support needed. -Support regional recruiting efforts. Working with regional in-house recruiters: -Approve timesheets and PTO, expense reports, and corporate credit card expenses. -Engage Health and Safety to educate, as needed. -Participate in applicable professional societies and trade associations. -Establish department objectives by collaborating with team members and management. Working with staff and management. -Training: monitor and guide implementation of training program. -Monitor compensation requirements for staff and adjust accordingly. -Consistently update the department’s financial forecast -Establish team’s BD plan: -Mentor staff on industry, project, process knowledge, and best practices. -Identify, interview, and hire key talent. -Oversee business development activities, including coordination with BusDev team and promoting your technical team to engage in BD. -Communicate employee and company objectives and goals.

What You Bring

-Typically, a minimum of fifteen (15) plus years of experience in civil engineering - land development -current company and departmental standards are met. -AR collections, effort vs contract value, project profitability, change order submission, monthly invoicing. -KPI: revenue, team utilization, net revenue multiplier, DSO, profitability, etc. -Bachelor’s Degree required. -Proven ability to lead teams, develop talent, and lead business development efforts. -operational excellence and a repeatable process for deliverables. -Understand the safety manuals and protocols. -Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
