Tasks
-Make design recommendations, adaptations, and modifications. -Receive broad guidance relating to overall key objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters and broad parameters for execution. Receive direction as needed, and especially on highly complex assignments. Independently apply extensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields. Review work produced by staff for quality assurance. -Conduct constructability reviews or assist in the design/plan/review of other civil engineering projects. -Assist with the marketing of the firm’s capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships with existing clients. -Conceptualize the initial civil design approach for assigned phases of land/site development. -Assist with the development of plans, specifications, and reports. -Create own design work using computer-aided or manual drafting techniques. -Plan, schedule, conduct, and/or coordinate detailed phases of assigned project work. -Assist project team with obtaining local and state permits for land development projects. -Review plans and prepare/review technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates. -Use advanced techniques, theory precepts and practices in the civil engineering field and related sciences and disciplines. -Carry out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved civil engineering techniques or procedures to create new or refined equipment, materials, processes or methods. -Prepare reports, narratives, development applications, submittal documents, and response letters. -Serve as technical specialist and liaison between clients and agencies, subcontractors, and design teams on complex project issues. -Prepare reports and correspondence concerning the direction of projects. -Review and interpret zoning regulations in a variety of municipalities. -Perform field investigation or inspections. -Serve as a lead in the technical direction over other less experienced engineers and provide direction, guidance and delegation of assignments. -Work with senior level engineers, clients and agencies, subcontractors, and design teams on complex engineering project issues. -Provide technical assistance in the resolution of design problems that may include performing field investigation or inspections, detailed design work and calculations, and detailed checking of design computations done by others, or general coordination of specific design aspects into a project.

-Self-reliance and ability to operate independently with limited direction. -Proficiency with reading construction plans. -Proficient with Storm Drain Modeling and Rational Method Hydrologic Calculations. -Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Projects). -Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil3D, AES, CIVILD, WSPGW, PCSWMM, StormCAD, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS preferred. -Proficient with Open Channel & Detention Basin Modeling and Design. -Mobility around a job/construction site to include walking, bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, or kneeling and wearing of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). -High level of motivation and a problem-solving attitude. -Strong sense of urgency in responding to constituents. -Professional Engineer license preferred. -Ability to work effectively with internal leaders and peers, as well as external clients. -Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. -Ability to multi-task and coordinate on multiple projects, with multiple clients and sub-consultants. -Ability to effectively participate as part of a project team. -Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds. -Experience with computer applications and civil engineering design software such as Civil3D in a professional or academic setting. -Proficient with HEC-RAS modeling and CLOMR/LOMR applications and processing. -Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field required at time of hire. -Five or more (5+) years of experience in the land development industry. -Occasional reaching outward or above shoulder. -Ability to effectively manage multiple time-sensitive tasks. -Effective verbal and written communication skills. -Land Development engineering experience and skills; large- and small-scale drainage and BMP design preferred. -Ability to work both independently and within a team environment. -Strong work ethic and commitment to quality. -Experience researching zoning, development standards, development review processes, compliance matters, regulations, and standards. -Data analysis and interpretation skills. -Occasional pushing or pulling up to 20 pounds.
