The Role

Overview

Perform mechanical maintenance and support operations at a 1,085 MW power plant

Tasks

-Conduct preventive and minor maintenance on all plant equipment as directed by the O&M Manager and in accordance with plant policies. -Support material management and procurement processes, including obtaining quotations, preparing requests for proposals, managing service contracts, performing bid comparisons, and creating purchase requisitions or blanket purchase orders. -Keep tools, shop machines, and equipment in good working order. Perform routine housekeeping to ensure plant and building areas remain clean and organized. -Maintain a valid driver’s license and obtain certification for operating plant mobile equipment. Safely operate vehicles and consistently follow safe work practices. -Perform basic welding, machining, and pipefitting work as needed to support maintenance and repair activities. -Assist in planning, scheduling, and conducting preventive, corrective, and overhaul maintenance on all power plant equipment. -Maintain accurate records and enter data into the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for corrective, preventive, and compliance maintenance activities. -Supervise vendors performing work on-site and report activity status to the O&M Manager. -Perform day-to-day mechanical maintenance activities to keep facility equipment in safe operating condition. Tasks include disassembling and reassembling equipment, inspecting internal parts for wear, checking tolerances, and replacing components as required.

What You Bring

-Experienced in supervising vendors and contractors, ensuring work quality, safety, and compliance with plant requirements. -Proven ability to inspect, disassemble, repair, and reassemble mechanical equipment, verify tolerances, and replace worn or defective parts to maintain safe, reliable operations. -Committed to strict adherence to safety and regulatory procedures, including lockout/tagout and electrical safety. -Associate degree in Plant, Mechanical, Electrical, or Process Technology preferred; equivalent technical training or relevant industry/military experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis. -Strong knowledge of power plant operations and maintenance practices, including preventive and corrective maintenance of pumps, valves, compressors, turbines, and auxiliary systems. -Extensive hands-on experience in power-generating or industrial maintenance, preferably as a plant mechanic, millwright, or in a similar role. -Skilled in welding, machining, pipefitting, and use of precision measuring and diagnostic tools. -Must possess a valid, unrestricted U.S. driver’s license and ensure it remains in good standing at all times. -Understand and comply with the plant’s lockout/tagout system, electrical safety requirements, and other safety, regulatory, and operational procedures. -Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and support planning, scheduling, and continuous improvement of maintenance activities. -Proficient in maintaining maintenance records and using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for preventive, corrective, and compliance tasks.
