Neel-Schaffer seeks responses from qualified applicants for the position of Senior Project Engineer – Roadway Design to work from our Tennessee locations. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in leading designing highway/roadway corridors, interchanges, roadway widening, intersection improvements, safety improvements, and multimodal projects for the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) and/or municipal clients. Task Management experience is advantageous but not a requirement for this position.

  • Proficiency in MicroStation V8i SS2 with Geopak, and/or OpenRoads Designer.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Tennessee and/or the ability to obtain your Tennessee PE license within 6 months.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
  • 6-15 years of progressive transportation/roadway design experience on transportation projects.
  • Strong verbal communication and analytical skills.
  • A knowledge of TDOT, including PDN process, concept development, development of functional reports, preparation of plans (including preliminary, ROW and construction), preparation of specifications and special provisions, and preparation of engineering estimated quantities and cost estimates is recommended.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Familiar with TDOT Standards, AASHTO Roadside Design Guide, MUTCD, ADA, PROWAG, etc.
  • Experience in roadway plan production and development.
