Overview

Tests, diagnoses, repairs, and calibrates electronic/optical equipment for customers.

Tasks

-Regularly works outdoors around moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity -Troubleshoot and repair electric masts -Pulls and prepares inventory in order to complete tasks -Utilizes Business Center software to update customer files, check for modeling errors and verify data -Repair, clean and calibrate pipe lasers, conventional total stations and auto levels -Diagnose GPS receivers, data collector, radios, displays, and tablets issues and makes proper repair or component replacements -Works with other departments to ensure that customer’s needs are met -Performs system testing with sample/live data and technology -Completes paperwork associated with repairs and ordering of parts using laptop and desk computers to do paperwork, study repairs, ordering, etc. -Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work -Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipment -Load firmware and upgrade firmware on devices -Diagnose, repair and calibrate robotic total stations -Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards -Occasionally lifts and moves materials and equipment up to 50 lbs. -Customer facing, discuss with customers status of products, repair cost, etc.

What You Bring

-Works in extremely bright or inadequate lighting -Requires regular and punctual employee attendance -Strong computer skills and the ability to work in Microsoft Word, Excel, CAD, AGTEC, in addition to various warehouse and accounting programs -Be able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment -Knowledge of and ability to use, test benches and break out boxes to test devices -Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water and high speed rotating equipment -Ability to work independently and as part of a team -Excellent work habits, accuracy, attention to detail, and quality of work -Strong organization and time management skills -Verbal and written communication skills -Certification in Electronic repair or optical repair preferred -Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue -Constant movement and use of hands, this position requires good manual dexterity -Excellent customer service skills -Strong electrical system experience. Ability to read and understand electrical system schematics, and troubleshoot -Critical thinking and problem-solving skills -Ability to read, write, and understand information -Ability to be self-starting and self-motivated -Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment -Significant amount of time standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, stooping, and reaching -Ability to follow logical troubleshooting procedures -Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences -Working technical knowledge of the afore mentioned components with the ability to diagnose, disassemble, repair, reassemble, and test repairs -High school diploma or equivalent and some college, or additional technical training, required; Degree in related field preferred -Ability to cut, grind, weld and solder -Works in an enclosed and open vehicle or equipment -Exposure to minor burns, cuts, bites, or stings -Knowledge of optical test ranges and methods -Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands in order to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects -Working knowledge of components, to include, but not limited to; GPS receivers, data collectors, tablets, radios, optical prisms, pipe lasers, total stations, auto levels, sanders, and robotic total stations -Two years or more years of experience in related field preferred -Ability to disassemble and repair various electronic systems related to machine technology and survey infrastructure products. Must be able to read and understand wiring diagrams -Valid Driver’s License required -Exposure to high noise levels and body vibration -Works in confined work spaces, awkward positions, and high places -Frequently communicates with others, must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
