Overview

Operate offshore radio communications, GMDSS and emergency response on Hibernia platform.

Tasks

-Handle call and dispatch duties -Ensure Annual Inspection is up to date with respect to the renewal of Licenses, Surveys, etc. -Perform general watch duties for the Radar System & Telecommunications Network Management System -Adhere to Control of Work system while carrying out all activities -Perform official Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) functions -Maintain mandatory training and certification for continued offshore work -Perform Weather Observing Duties and liaison with the Weather Forecast Service -Ensure the orderly and correct utilization of communications by others while carrying out their duties -Report all accidents, near misses, and hazardous conditions -Maintain various logs/accounting procedures required by the Radio License -Ensure that Distress/Safety/Weather and Traffic Advisory messages are brought immediately to the attention of the leadership -Communicate messages through the radio station to/from addressees in a timely manner -Monitor and communicate with vessels and aircraft, handling marine and aeronautical communications -Provide support and info for ice management including tracking and logging all ice targets -May be required consistently to work 12-hour shifts performing physical labour in varying temperature extremes and conditions. May be required to work overtime on occasion -Coordinate Helicopter operations in conjunction with leadership and Helicopter contractors -Communicate with Helicopters, Supply and Support Vessels, Shore Base, etc. -Provide general administration support work -Execute critical emergency response tasks

-Restricted Operators Aeronautical (ROA) Certificate -Understand marine operations associated with offshore drilling installations and support craft -Understanding of permit to work and work management systems -Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) Alive -Offshore Safety Regulatory Awareness -Familiarity with computerized maintenance management system -Demonstrated teamwork behaviors consistent with company values -Must be able to climb and maintain balance on stairs, ladders, scaffolds and steel framework, utilizing proper fall arrest procedures when required. Able to safely and comfortably work at heights without posing a danger to oneself or others -Basic Survival Training (BST) including HUET and HUEBA -Required: Site-specific medical, drug and alcohol testing -Effective communication skills (written, oral, and computer) -Familiarity with ECAREG procedures -Ability to recognize and resolve conflict -Able to move and work in confined spaces, following proper protocol -Must possess enough strength and stamina to perform the technical duties and essential functions as identified above -Must be able to safely lift and carry up to 50lbs -Advanced Rigging, Slinging, and Banksman -Qualified to MANMAR & METAR standard with INDS Weather -General Operators Certificate endorsed for GMDSS issued by Industry Canada -The following Offshore Certificates and Training is required and would be considered an asset: Basic Survival Training (BST) including HUET and HUEBA Advanced Rigging, Slinging, and Banksman Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) Alive Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS 2015) Offshore Safety Regulatory Awareness Fall Protection Confined Space Entry Emergency First Aid Understanding of permit to work and work management systems -Radar Navigation Certification ARPA -Operate Platform Radio Equipment; proficient in the use of radio and satellite telecommunications equipment, including computer applications for helicopter flight and vessel tracking -GMDSS Certificate from an accredited GMDSS training institution -Experience working in a producing offshore oil and gas facility or petrochemical environment -Aviation and marine weather observer certification from a recognized institution or qualified instructor -Must be able to understand and implement all safety requirements for travel offshore and onboard the platform -Familiarity with Canadian Rescue Coordination Centre and procedures -Experience as a Radio Operator in an Offshore environment, preferably in the oil and gas industry -Able to meet physical requirements of frequent walking, climbing, standing, bending, twisting and crawling for the duration of the shift -Familiarity with quality processes
