Tasks

-Maintains client relationships and establishes new ones through business development activities -Provides training and verification for staff’s written documentation of daily activities, site conditions, etc. -Tracks expenditures trends and approves invoices within budgetary guidelines -Engages clients and potential clients to identify future opportunities for work -Delivers exceptional customer service -Provides occasional assistance with field tasks to support projects and address temporary needs -Leads continuous improvement programs throughout the department -Establishes positive employee relations through effective communication and ongoing support -Analyzes needs and designs for construction projects -Authorizes company expenditures related to construction activities -Maintains open communications with other departments -Responsible for safety and quality of work performed within the construction services team -Works with members of the Construction Services team to address issues and tackle obstacles -Provides regular consultation to other members of the department -Handles customer and contractor problems related to construction

What You Bring

-12+ years’ experience with construction inspection or construction trades -Able to walk up/down stairs -Proficient in time management and a self-starter -Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels -Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends (including overnight stays) -Demonstrates initiative in identifying potential issues, takes steps to determine solutions, and implements selected steps -Has a reliable personal vehicle that is available for daily use to travel to job sites -High School diploma or GED required -Construction management experience preferred -Additional experience in engineering, drafting, survey, and/or construction management is a plus -KDOT Inspection certification required -Experience with a public agency, one of our clients or another consulting firm preferred -Prior experience with construction inspection under state DOT requirements preferred -Ability to do occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. -Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook
