Senior Specialist - GIS

Tasks

-Identify and implement improvements to existing processes, mainly where no clear precedent exists. -Interact directly with clients to gather requirements, present findings, and support the delivery of projects. -Contribute to proposal development and assist in securing project funding or service contracts. -Perform self-checks on all deliverables to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality. -Participate in internal initiatives such as U+P steering committees focused on integration, digital innovation, knowledge sharing, and diversity & inclusion. -Manage and execute GIS tasks and projects of moderate to high complexity with minimal supervision. -Lead the design and development of GIS databases and task-specific programming for diverse projects. -Actively engage in professional or industry organisations, including serving on committees or working groups. -Conduct technical quality reviews and ensure documentation is maintained in accordance with organisational standards. -Coordinate and mentor junior staff, providing guidance and oversight on technical tasks and project execution. -Apply critical thinking and advanced technical skills to analyse and solve complex geospatial challenges independently.

What You Bring

-Advanced proficiency in GIS software, particularly ArcGIS and QGIS -Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities -Utilise expert-level knowledge of GIS software platforms and tools to deliver accurate and insightful geospatial outputs. -Familiarity with the UAE's geographic and urban landscape -Strong organizational skills and attention to detail -Expertise in database management, including proficiency in SQL -Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Computer Science, or a related field -Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and R for GIS applications -Demonstrated experience in project management and leading GIS initiatives -Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment -Effective communication skills, both written and verbal -Minimum of 6+ years of experience in GIS and spatial analysis -Strong skills in spatial analysis, remote sensing, and image processing -Experience with geospatial data collection and processing techniques -Excellent data visualization and cartography skills -Knowledge of urban planning or environmental management is a plus -GIS Professional (GISP) certification preferred
