The Role

Overview

Provide hands‑on support and care for vulnerable youth in a shelter setting.

Tasks

-Provide emotional support, crisis response, and intentional care moments throughout each shift. -Build trust through conversation, consistency, and respect. -Keep the shelter clean, organized, and ready for the next shift. -Create a calm, safe, and welcoming environment for youth. -Prepare light meals or snacks and assist with morning or evening routines. -Conduct intakes and contact guardians or agencies when required. -Document interactions, services, and progress accurately and timely. -Carry the on-call phone during assigned rotation weeks and provide coverage as needed.

What You Bring

-Food Handler’s Permit -Negative TB test (within 8 months of hire) -CPR/First Aid/Bloodborne Pathogens certification -Bonus: Experience supporting youth in crisis or with high-risk backgrounds -Must be 21+ years old (per DCYF licensing) -Agency Affiliated Counselor (AAC) credential -High School Diploma or GED/HSEC -1 year of experience working with youth -Ability to obtain (within 30 days of hire):
